Five fire departments were called out for a fire at a sawmill in West Mahoning Township last night.
Indiana County 911 reported that the Plumville, Dayton and Rural Valley fire departments, along with Punxsy’s EMS, were called out for the structure fire at 941 Drake Road near Dayton at 8:38 PM. Initial reports from Dayton’s fire chief said that the building was fully engulfed in flames when crews got there. Perry Township fire crews were called in at 8:48 PM to provide tanker assistance. Marion Center firefighters were initially called in to standby for Plumville fire department, but were called into action at 9:34 PM to assist at the scene. Creekside would take over standby duties at Plumville’s station.
No word yet on how the fire started.
