Area fire crews stayed busy Friday evening as two brush fires caused busy work schedules for five local fire departments.
The first fire broke out shortly after 4:45 p.m., where reports say Indiana fire crews were dispatched to a truck that caught on fire along Route 119 Highway North, between Route 422 and the Indiana/Jimmy Stewart Airport exit. Assistant Chief Ron Moreau says the truck was a total loss, and the fire from the truck ended up catching approximately 2 acres of brush along the highway on fire.
The fire caused the road to close until fire crews from Homer City, Creekside and Aultman fire departments could arrive and help. Moreau also said one lane was opened following a brief closure of the road. No injuries were caused from the fire.
