Paul Koons of the Indiana Fire Association said the fire started as ISR crews were loading the trailer.
The Indiana County Humane Society is next door to the scrap yard and its manager, Samantha McCoy, talked about what she heard and saw when the fire started.
Crews from ISR assisted Indiana firefighters on the scene pulling cars out of the trailer in an effort to put the fire out. Creekside Volunteer Fire Company also provided tanker assist on the scene. No injuries were reported.
