The U.S. Department of Education has published a “College Scorecard”, which is intended to provide a data-based guide for prospective college students. One aspect of the scorecard is a measure of the earnings of alumni from each institution ten years after they graduated.
The searchable database reveals that West Chester University graduates are earning the most among State System of Higher Education schools ten years after graduation. But West Chester ranks only 71st in the state, at an average of $46,700. Among State System schools, IUP ranks 10th, with average annual earnings of $39,000. Overall, IUP is 111th among state schools.
One interesting result that emphasizes what a loss the Wyotech school will be to Indiana County; that school’s graduates earned an average annual salary of $43,400 after ten years, placing it at number 86, which is above all but three of the State System schools.
At the top of the rankings for Pennsylvania is The University of the Sciences, whose graduates earned an annual average of $91,800 ten years after graduation. The rest of the top five are Thomas Jefferson University, the University of Pennsylvania, Carnegie Mellon, and Lehigh.
