The State Department of Labor & Industry and “Team Pennsylvania” yesterday announced $180,000 in Career Readiness Mini-Grants to 41 school districts, including one in Indiana County. The grants are designed to “help students learn about career opportunities and create stronger connections between schools and community partners.”
The $20,000 grants are funded through a Strategic Innovation Grant from the Department of Labor & Industry.
The Blairsville-Saltsburg School District will receive one of the grants. Its application was chosen by a coalition of Team Pennsylvanian and intermediate units across the commonwealth. As part of the program, grant awardees are required to work with their local Workforce Development Board and base their efforts on regional labor market needs.
