Senior guard Anthony Glover, Jr. scored a game-high 21 points but it wasn’t enough as the sixth-ranked Crimson Hawks were edged by Virginia State 69-64 on Saturday evening at the Kovalchick Complex.
It was a season-high for Glover, who received help from junior forward Jacobo Diaz who posted his second double-double of the year with 15 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Although the Crimson Hawks (1-3) went 17-of-20 from the foul line, they converted just 35 percent from the field, including 5-of-22 from 3-point range.
IUP led 54-50 with just under eight minutes to go in the game before Virginia State (2-0) rattled off nine straight points to take a five point lead. Glover made it a one point game with 3:31 to play after a steal and fastbreak layup with a free throw on the back end, and it remained a one point deficit with under a minute to play in the game.
The game became a free throw shooting contest down the stretch, with Virginia State making 4-of-4 to ice the game in the final moments.
Also reaching double-figures in scoring was forward Blake Danielak with 14 points. Junior guard Dante Lombardi dished out a game-high seven assists.
