The State System of Higher Education has completed its strategic system review and have received comments from other stakeholders. Now, the State System is looking to shift from collecting information to putting that information into practice.
The Board of Governors of the State System and interim chancellor Dr. Karen Whitney are working with IUP and the 13 other state-owned universities, and have started discussions on how to shift from a “system review” to a “system redesign” to bring positive results to the students, the schools and the entire system. As part of that, Whitney will continue to visit with students on campus to get their feedback. In her first two days on the job, she paid visits to IUP and Slippery Rock, and is expected to visit Edinboro, Mansfield, Lock Haven, and California University this week.
While a media release announcing this shift from review to redesign did not go into the specifics of what will be discussed, the discussions will focus on three areas: Student success, leveraging the strengths of each university in the system, and changing the governance and leadership structure. The final report from the strategic review is posted on the State System website, www.passhe.edu.
