The Purchase Line High School has become the second school in Pennsylvania to receive the newly-created Governor’s Civic Engagement Award. The honor is given to schools that achieve at least 85 percent voter registration among its eligible students.
Purchase Line Superintendent Joseph Bradley says the award “reflects long-standing practices” within the district and aligns with its “strong sense of love of country, respect for those that serve or serves, and protection of our citizen’s rights.” He says the students who have registered to vote embody the district’s mission of “Pursue Lifetime Success and Development”.
The Governor’s Civic Engagement Award is a cooperative effort by the Departments of Education and State, in collaboration with Inspire U.S., a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works to transform young leaders’ inspiration into action.
The 85 percent attainment by Purchase Line qualifies for the Gold Level of the Governor’s Civic Engagement Award.
