Charles Raymond Tonkin, 97, Indiana, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, while at Indiana Square Personal Care Home.
The son of Cecil and Osha Pearl (Douglas) Tonkin, he was born October 19, 1919. In Indiana.
Charles was a hardworking man and entrepreneur. Charles was a member of the Church of Christ where he taught Sunday school. His interests included hunting and traveling.
Surviving is his wife Lois (Mikesell) Tonkin, Indiana; children, Linda (Neal) Watkins, Indiana, William (Peggy) Tonkin, Indiana, Charles “Chuck” Tonkin and his wife Karen, Home, Mark (Debbie) Tonkin, Indiana, Brian (Kelly) Tonkin, Indiana, and Vince (Carole) Tonkin, Creekside; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Charles in death were his parents; first wife Lotti Matilda “Tilly” Ray Tonkin, his wife of 60 years; sons, Ronald and Jim; sisters, Ruth, Pearl, Ann and Blanche.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home. Funeral service will immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Rev. C.J. Moffitt, officiating.
Interment in the Greenwood Cemetery will be private.
