In the most recent court docket, several defendants have been named in criminal charges in Indiana County filed before Magisterial District Judge Guy Haberl.
-Steven T. Shifflett, 25, of Indiana, was charged on November 8th by Indiana Borough police with simple assault and harassment.
Police responded to a domestic dispute at 11 PM on November 6th in the 1000 block of Washington Street. The victim told police that she was involved in a verbal argument with Shifflett. He became angry and punched her foot. He later grabbed her by the arms to keep her from leaving the residence.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
-Raseem Hutchinson, 24, of New Kensington, was charged on November 2nd by State Police with DUI and five summary driving infractions shortly before 2 AM on September 24th along North Sixth Street in Indiana.
Police initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle travel at a high rate of speed that failed to use a turn signal. Upon contact with Hutchinson, the smell of alcohol was detected. Hutchinson failed field sobriety tests and had a reported blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 19.
-Andrew J. Kabangai, 20, of Philadelphia, was charged on November 2nd with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
IUP Campus Police responded to a report of possible marijuana use around 12:30 AM on October 15th in the Suites on Pratt residence hall. When Kabangai opened the door, police observed alcohol bottles in plain view. During a search of the room, police found alcohol and marijuana.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 15.
-Jamie R. Kunselman, 37, of Indiana, was charged on November 4th by State Police with theft by deception which occurred on April 8th at a business along South Seventh Street in Indiana.
Police investigated a report from Kunselman’s employer that she had reimbursed herself $900 and paid her personal water bill in the amount of $100 without authorization.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 15.
