Indiana-based Magisterial District Judge Guy Haberl has announced that he will run for a third six-year term of office in the Spring Primary. He plans to cross-file on both the Republican and Democratic ballots.
Haberl was first elected in 2005 after retiring as a sergeant with the Indiana Borough Police Department. He’s a graduate of the State Police Municipal Police Academy, the FBI National Academy, and IUP, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology. He’s a member of the Special Court Judge’s Association of Pennsylvania and serves on the boards of the Alice Paul House, the Chevy Chase Community Center, and the Indiana County Humane Society.
Haberl’s magisterial district encompasses Indiana Borough and White Township precincts 4/5 and 6.
Judge Haberl has also released his report of the court’s activity for 2016. His office handled 3,317 cases last year, including 607 criminal cases, 217 civil cases, and 143 landlord/tenant cases. There were more than 11-hundred traffic citations and another 11-hundred non-traffic citations, and 122 miscellaneous actions, such as search warrants and weddings.
