The White Township Supervisors at their meeting last night discussed the possibility of putting a cell phone tower at the White Township Recreation Complex.
The pole site would be near the “Eagles rest” picnic area, and after an outside party makes the land acquisition, Verizon would install the 130 foot mono-pole. The lease would be for 29 years and White Township would receive a royalty for the land use. One of the concerns brought up was safety, as the township requires an area that would allow the pole to fall safely. Township Supervisor Milt Lady explained that the main concerns were a safety perimeter around the pole in case it should fall, and the aesthetics of the tower with the surrounding green area of the recreation complex.
The motion to go into further negotiations about the cell tower passed 4-1, with Supervisor Jerry Boucher voting against it, saying there were enough cell towers in the township, and that there were several factors that would not make it worth the trouble.
Last night’s decision does not mean the Supervisors are committed to leasing the land for the pole.
