Indiana County Attorney Thomas A. Kauffman announced his candidacy Thursday to run for judge on the Indiana County Court of Common Pleas.
“As someone who has spent a great deal of time during the past quarter-century in the courtroom, I have the highest respect for the office and know firsthand how important it is for Indiana County to have qualified Judges in office,” Kauffman said in a release sent to Renda Broadcasting.
Kauffman is a Republican but says he plans to cross file for the nominations of both the Democrat and Republican parties for the primary on May 16.
Kauffman will be running for the common pleas court judge seat formerly held by Judge Carol Hanna, who retired on June 6, 2016. The term of office is 10 years.
