State police have filed two more accident reports from last week, when black ice caused havoc on area roadways.
One of those crashes was on Route 286 in Rayne Township on January 11th. 68-year-old Clarence Marsh of Penn Run escaped injury when his pickup truck spun out and slid off the highway near Tanoma Road, shearing off a utility pole. The truck ended up on its side and the electric wires from the pole were arcing. REA Energy was summoned and the power was off in that area for a number of hours.
Another accident, on January 12th, occurred on westbound Route 22 at the West Philadelphia Street intersection near Armagh in East Wheatfield Township. Police say 61-year-old Jeffrey Marshall of Blairsville attempted to turn into the left-hand lane but struck a truck that was already there, operated by 29-year-old Kenneth Bell of Saltsburg. No one was hurt.
