The Center Township Supervisors voted to furlough one of their employees at their payroll meeting on Thursday.
The motion was made as a cost-saving measure, according to Supervisor James Gatske, in an effort to save money for road projects in the Township. Supervisor John Bertolino had his own motion during the meeting that would have a supervisor step down temporarily from their road master position.
Gatske’s motion passed with Bertolino officially abstaining, while Bertolino’s motion failed to pass due to a lack of a second. The layoff of the employee is expected to be a temporary measure and they hope to hire them back as soon as possible.
