Four fire companies were called out to a fire in Northern Indiana County Sunday morning
Indiana County 911 reported that Commodore, Cherrytree and Pine Township fire departments along with the Indiana County RIG team and Citizens’ ambulance were called out to a structure fire at 651 Valley Road in Green Township at 8:25 in the morning. Commodore Fire Chief Mark Riva said the home of Linda Leamer was a two-story split level home. Leamer was able to get out safely. Clymer Fire Department was called in about 13 minutes after the initial call to provide tanker assist, and they also were on standby for the Commodore Fire Department. Chief Riva said the possible cause was a wood burner in the basement of the house.
Otherwise it was a quiet Sunday for fire crews. Rossiter Fire Department was called for a crash in Canoe Township at 1:05 PM on Sunday. They were assisted by State Police from Punxsutawney and by Punxsutawney Area Ambulance. And at 6:45 PM, Blairsville fire and police departments were dispatched for a report of a tree falling across power lines on West Market Street.
