The State Department of Labor and Industry has released the unemployment rate for Indiana County for the Month of December and there was a slight increase.
Indiana’s unemployment rate for December of 2016 was 6.9%, an increase of two-tenths of a percentage point over November and one percentage point over December of 2015. Many of the job areas remained unchanged for the Month of December, and the number of non-farm jobs from November was also unchanged from November at 34,100.
Indiana ranks in 54th for the lowest unemployment rate state-wide. Among our neighbors, Westmoreland County had 5.8%, Cambria had 6.6%, Jefferson had 6.7%, Clearfield had 7.2% and Armstrong had 7.3% unemployment.
