Investigators are continuing to piece together the circumstances which lead to the death over the weekend of 20-year-old Caleb Zweig, an IUP student from Rockville, Maryland.
Zweig died early Saturday at Indiana Regional Medical Center after an altercation with a fraternity brother, 19-year-old Brady DiStefano of Johnstown. According to a criminal complaint, DiStefano was seen by an eyewitness on top of an unconscious Zweig, choking him. The witness pulled DiStefano away and aided Zweig until paramedics arrived.
Indiana County District Attorney Patrick Dougherty said that they are waiting for the complete autopsy and toxicology report before deciding on their next course of action. It may include further charges against DiStefano, who is currently charged with one count of aggravated assault.
Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. said the investigation could take a while as there is limited physical evidence to look at, and they are depending on the full autopsy and toxicology reports to help determine the cause of death, which has not been established as of yet. There’s no timetable yet on when the full death report will be available.
