State System of Higher Education Chancellor Frank Brogan says Governor’s Wolf’s request for a $9 million increase in funding for the state-owned universities would help secure a brighter future for the universities and all Pennsylvanians. If approved, it would be the third straight year of increases for the state-owned schools.
Wolf proposed $453.1 million for the State System. An additional $17.1 million is requested from the state’s Keystone Recreation, Park, and Conservation Fund to pay for deferred maintenance projects on campuses across the System. Money from that fund comes from realty transfer taxes.
Brogan and other State System representatives will appear before both the House and Senate appropriations committees to review the budget request on February 23rd.
