UPDATE:
Several defendants were sentenced in Indiana County Court this morning, including two people who were involved in the shooting deaths of two Pittsburgh men last May.
22-year-old former IUP Student George Exum of Norristown, PA was sentenced to 6 months to 2 years in Indiana County Jail and five years probation for his guilty plea to possession with intent to deliver and tampering with evidence. He was also ordered to pay court costs connected with the case. Exum was originally charged with two counts each of criminal homicide and aggravated assault in the deaths of Jamar Watt and Shawn Richardson, but those charges were later withdrawn. The two went to Exum’s apartment in Essex House on Oakland Avenue to buy marijuana, but instead tried to rob him of drugs and money. As he was forced to open a safe, Exum turned and shot the two men. Watt died at the scene while Richardson died at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.
The two women in the car with Watt and Richardson also faced charges of homicide because their actions led to the deaths. They reportedly drove Watt and Richardson to the scene. One of those women, 29-year-old Consetta Menta of McKeesport, was sentenced today to 2-10 years in state prison, a $500 fine and court costs. The other woman, Catherine Hullenbaugh, made a plea bargain and was sentenced last fall to 3-10 years for a guilty plea of conspiracy to commit robbery.
Also sentenced today was John Alan Wilson, who pleaded guilty to charges of risking a catastrophe and dangerous burning. The charges stem from an incident last March in White Township when he set his mobile home on fire. He posted photos of the fire on facebook and the posts read “I will lay in this house and burn.” The home on Knox Street was completely destroyed. He was sentenced to 3 years probation, $400 in fines and was also ordered to pay court costs.
