At the Indiana County Commissioners meeting This (Wednesday) Morning, Commissioner Rod Ruddock talked about the new committee he is on that is working on to help change things concerning property tax reassessments.
Ruddock mentioned that he was appointed to the appeals process subcommittee through the Local Government Commission based in Harrisburg to bring up problems that have been seen with the appeals process, something that was brought to the attention of Ruddock and his fellow commissioners during the recent reassessment. He said that nothing is in the pipeline yet, but they are in the beginning phases of a long process that will hopefully have a fruitful ending.
In other business, the Commissioners approved a new 3-year contract with PA Social Services Union/SEIU to cover workers at offices of district magistrates, domestic relations and probation. The contract contains a 2% salary increase in year one, a 2.25% increase in year two and a 2.5% increase in year three. Finally, a congratulatory proclamation was presented to Helen McMillen for her six decades of service to the Indiana County Farm Bureau.
