Six days after a raid on a mobile home outside of Seward, police yesterday arrested the man suspected of operating a methamphetamine lab there.
36-year-old Devin Richard Hughes is charged with manufacturing, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, manufacturing a controlled substance, chemical waste offenses, and possession of drug paraphernalia, plus dissemination of false or misleading advertising. The charges were filed by Latrobe City Police as part of the Westmoreland County Drug Task Force.
Police were tipped off to possible illegal activity at Hughes’ trailer along Hoover Street in St. Clair Township by neighbors who reported vehicles constantly coming and going. When they raided the trailer last Tuesday, they found an ailing woman who was taken to a hospital, but Hughes was not there. Lighter fluid, ephedrine, used lithium batteries, and other materials used in the manufacture of meth were found, along with other drug paraphernalia.
Hughes was arraigned and ordered to the Westmoreland County Prison, with bond set at $100,000. He’ll have a preliminary hearing on February 24th.
