In Indiana County Court today, there are a number of cases scheduled before President Judge William Martin, including jury selection for a New Derry man charged in two separate cases. 42-year-old Elijah Eli Harris was charged in September of last year with two felony counts of endangering the welfare of children, plus two misdemeanor counts each of corruption of minors and open lewdness. The incidents happened between April 30th and May 3rd at a home along Quarry Street in Blairsville. In the second case, Harris will be tried for false identification to law enforcement and driving while suspended. Those charges also were filed by Blairsville Borough Police for a traffic stop on September 27th at Route 22 West and Dixon Street.
In a case postponed from last month, 33-year-old Chad Cahill of Armagh will be sentenced for possession of red phosphorous, a chemical used to produce methamphetamine. Cahill was arrested in June of last year. Charges related to operating a meth lab will not be prosecuted.
32-year-old Wesley Shields of Shelocta will be sentenced for possession with intent to deliver, with agreement for non-prosecution on a second count of the same offense, and misdemeanor possession.
Michele McGary of Rural Valley will be sentenced for bad checks.
Jury selection will be held for 33-year-old David Dilts Jr. of Penn Run, who will be tried for accidents involving damage to attended property and traffic violations for a hit-and-run accident last June on Route 259 in Brush Valley Township. Dilts is accused of rear-ending another vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Jury selection is also scheduled for 23-year-old Bernard Roberts of Philadelphia in a theft case also involving unauthorized access to an electronic device. However, Roberts is also scheduled for plea court tomorrow.
