There are some key budget hearings today before the state House and Senate Appropriations committees.
Representatives of the State System of Higher Education will appear before the Senate committee at 10 o’clock this morning and the House committee at 1:30 this afternoon. Last year, IUP President Michael Driscoll was part of the State System presentation team, but he is not scheduled this year. Governor Tom Wolf has proposed a funding increase of $8.9 million for the fourteen state-owned universities.
The House Appropriations Committee will also hear from the Treasurer, Auditor General, and Attorney General today. In addition to the State System of Higher Education, the Senate committee is also scheduled to hear a joint budget presentation by the State Police/Homeland Security Department.
