White Township Supervisors received the results of a traffic study for an intersection where a lot of crashes have occurred.
White Township asked PennDOT for a traffic study to see if a traffic light was warranted at the intersection of Acorn Road, West Philadelphia Street and College Lodge road. Township Manager Milt Lady said the results of that study did not warrant a new traffic light due to a low number of vehicles that go through that intersection. Lady said that the supervisors wanted the light due to the bad sight lines, and the high number of crashes and near-misses in that area.
Speaking of traffic signals, the traffic signal at the Regency Mall will change today. The signal at the entrance to the mall on the North-bound side of Oakland Avenue will feature a change to the left-turn arrow’s timing.
Also at last night’s White Township Supervisors meeting, the supervisors approved buying a parcel of land adjacent to the current township building for $62,000. How the township will use the land is not known yet, but it could be used for additional salt storage, another entrance/exit point or any number of purposes.
