SOUTH MAHONING TOWNSHIP
Drivers in Amish country are well aware that on occasion a horse strays from the farm. It happened early yesterday morning on a road in South Mahoning Township. State police say 48-year-old Kevin Dunmire of Plumville was driving on Johnston Road in the darkness shortly before 6 AM when he encountered a horse standing in the middle of the road. Dunmire swerved to avoid hitting the animal, his pickup truck crashing through an Amishman’s fence and coming to rest against a tree. He suffered minor injuries and was taken by Citizens Ambulance to the Indiana Regional Medical Center.
