In Indiana County Court today, multiple defendants are scheduled to plead and be sentenced in a number of cases, many of them for driving under the influence.
One of the defendants is Joseph Popovich of Homer City, who will turn 21 years old on Monday. Popovich will plead to charges of DUI controlled substance, DUI impaired ability, careless driving, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, all related to a traffic stop by state police on Liberty Street in Homer City in December of 2015.
Popovich is also scheduled for Criminal Call next Friday in a separate case in which he is charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI in the death of 16-year-old Homer Center High School student Kai Hrabovsky last May. Hrabovsky was killed when he was struck while walking along Mount Zion Road in Pine Township last May.
There are thirty court cases scheduled for either sentencing or for plea and sentencing on today’s schedule. All but one are for DUI. That single case is for possession of a controlled substance.
