UPDATE: Liggett has waived her preliminary hearing, and her case will go to trial. No word yet on a trial date.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled this morning for a Blairsville woman accused of providing heroin to a woman who overdosed and then attempting to mislead the ambulance workers who came to help the victim.
50-year-old Renee Liggett is charged with manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, along with recklessly endangering another person and obstructing emergency services for the February 14th incident at Liggett’s Auto Garage in Center Township.
According to state police, an EMT used Narcan to revive 36-year-old Jennifer Mills of Blairsville. Mills told them that Liggett had given her the heroin, which she had gotten from a customer in exchange for work done on his car. Liggett claimed they had only been drinking beer and repeatedly misled the EMT about what had happened, she later admitted, because she was afraid she would go to jail.
Liggett is free on $5,000 cash bond and is due before District Judge Jennifer Rega at 10:20 AM.
