Westmoreland County District Attorney John Peck says the body that was found in a field Thursday in Derry Township may be a person that has been missing since February.
We previously reported that a body was found in a heavily wooded area off Strawcutter Road, a few miles away from Keystone State Park, and investigators had called the circumstances surrounding the discovery “suspicious”. Now, the DA and Westmoreland County Coroner Ken Bacha are saying they believe the body they found was 34-year-old Ronny Cable of Vandegrift.
Cable had been reported missing since mid-February, when she was last seen at a Wal-Mart on security video, and she was later seen leaving her home in Vandegrift with two men in a red vehicle.
A positive identification is pending at this point, as the remains were burned, not buried. Bacha said that among the deaths he investigated in his career, this investigation was one of the worst.
