The Ben Franklin Elementary School Project took a step closer to final approval from the White Township Planning Commission.
At Tuesday Night’s White Township Planning Commission meeting, the commission voted 4-1 to give preliminary approval to the site plan for the Ben Franklin Elementary School Project, but that approval came with some conditions. Assistant Township Manager Chris Anderson said the conditions were a review of the traffic study of Ben Franklin Road, and a discussion with the Indiana Fire Association Chief.
One part of the discussion with the fire department is a fire truck access road that would run along the side of the building, and extending that road past the building on the western side to allow better access for fire trucks. Russell Lucas, an attorney with Andrews and Price, spoke on the district’s behalf in saying that they did not want to extend the road beyond the building, as it would go into a green space that they are setting aside to be used as an educational tool.
Anderson said that the plan could get final approval from the White Township Planning Commission as soon as their meeting in April.
