A Greensburg man was taken into custody in White Township after he fled on foot from a traffic stop. His companion got away.
The incident happened March 4th. State police initiated the stop after seeing the Toyota Avalon with tinted windows being driven near the intersection of Warren Road and Indian Springs Road. They ran the license plate and found that the car’s owner was wanted in Westmoreland County. When the car pulled into the parking lot at the CVS Pharmacy, the passenger, 43-year-old James Heard of Greensburg, started running away. He was caught and taken into custody, but while the trooper was chasing after him, the driver of the car pulled away. The car was later found abandoned nearby.
Heard was taken back to Westmoreland County to answer charges of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. He will be charged in Indiana County with simple possession and resisting arrest. Police do not identify the car’s owner or say what the original charges were.
