Winifred “Jane” (Spicher) Reed, 88, of Indiana, PA died on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Crystal Waters Personal Care Home in Home, PA.
The daughter of Everett L. “Pete” Spicher and wife Ruth (Braughler) Spicher, she was born on January 4, 1929 in Cherry Tree, PA.
Mrs. Reed was a graduate of Cherry Tree High School.
She married Everett H. Reed, Jr. on June 30, 1950 and they have enjoyed a long happy and loving life together. They celebrated their sixty-seventh wedding anniversary on June 30, 2017.
Mrs. Reed was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking; sewing; knitting and reading, among various other things. She volunteered and worked at Meals on Wheels for thirty years, having started there shortly after its origin. She enjoyed working there with the other volunteers and continued to work with Meals on Wheels until poor health caused her to retire.
She attended the Grace Methodist Church in Indiana, PA.
Mrs. Reed especially enjoyed spending time with her children; grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years; her two sons: Daniel G. Reed of Indiana, PA and Donald L. Reed and wife, Connie of Homer City, PA; her two grandchildren: David L. Reed and wife, Heather of Indiana, PA and Jessica (Reed) Tanaka and husband, Justin of Indiana, PA and the following great grandchildren: Joshua Reed; Gracie Reed; Ellie Anna Reed; Christopher Tanaka and Connor Tanaka, all of Indiana, PA.
Mrs. Reed is also survived by a niece, Susan Coudriet and husband, Roger of Clymer, PA and a nephew, Gary Spicher and wife, Alice of Cherry Tree, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack E. Spicher and wife, Florence and a sister, Mary Jane Spicher, who died in infancy.
The Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA is in charge of arrangements with visiting hours to be held at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2017 and again at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Monday, November 6, 2017. The Pastor Jerry Hoch will officiate. Interment will follow at the Citizens Cemetery at Cherry Tree, PA.
