In Westmoreland County, emergency crews responded to two motorcycle accidents yesterday, one of them fatal.
An Allegheny County man died in a crash just before 11:30 AM on Route 981, outside of Latrobe in Derry Township. 59-year-old Bruce Miklavic Sr. of Richland Township died his cycle was hit by a northbound car which crossed the center line near Shannon Lane. Miklavic and his passenger were ejected from their motorcycle. Neither the passenger nor the other driver has been publicly identified.

State Police out of Greensburg say 24-year-old Tanner Daniel Gropp of Bolivar was riding his motorcycle south on Creek Road near Corvi Street just outside of West Bolivar when the front tire hit a bump in the road. Gropp lost control and he and the bike slid down Creek Road.
Gropp was wearing a helmet at the time, but the helmet was knocked off during the collision. He suffered head injuries and was taken to Connemaugh Hospital for treatment. Police say that speed may have been a factor in the crash.
