The quarterly price adjustment for electricity is good news for Penelec customers. Their rates are going down.
Penelec’s residential electricity rates has fallen from 6.22 cents per kilowatt hour to 5.97 cents. For the average customer using 750 kilowatt hours in a month, their bill will be $102.01, a drop of $1.92.
Seasonal factors are behind the reduction, most notably the coming fall weather, which will create less demand for air conditioning…despite the hot weather forecast for this week. Penelec also says the overall economy is doing well and there’s an abundant energy supply.
The new rates took effect on Saturday. The next rate adjustment, at the start of the winter heating season, is scheduled to take effect on December 1st.
