Indiana Borough Police are investigating an accidental discharge of a firearm that happened this morning near the IUP Campus.
According to an announcement sent out by IUP, the firearm went off in the 900 block of Wayne Avenue around 7:00 this morning. Indiana Borough Police Chief Justin Schawl said that they are still investigating the shooting, and the man who accidentally fired the shot is being treated by medical personnel. Police believe that the incident was isolated and accidental. Schawl said more information on the incident will be released later today.
