IUP has put out for bid the design of its new Academy of Culinary Arts in Punxsutawney. The university announced last September that two properties adjoining the Fairman Centre at the corner of West Mahoning and South Findley streets would be demolished to make way for the new building. The total project cost was estimated at between $15 million and $18 million. Interestingly, the historic Agape building will be razed but IUP will retain its façade.
The Fairman Centre was gifted to the Foundation for IUP in 2006, and in turn the foundation gifted it along with the Agape property and the Miller property in September.
Bids for the design of the academy are due by May 24th and will be opened the same day.
