Indiana borough police are investigating the defacement of borough property by someone placing stickers of a recognized hate group on different locations.
Police say that earlier today, they were made aware of several unauthorized stickers and flyers that had been placed in various locations within the Downtown Indiana business district. Several of the stickers were fixed to poles, cans and benches with an unknown adhesive, and 13 of the items were connected to the group Patriot Front.
Indiana Borough Police will not tolerate any incident of hate and they will actively investigate and prosecute all offenders. In their statement, Police say that Indiana Borough has been recognized as a welcoming community and the police are committed to ensuring the peace, safety and comfort of all its citizens.
Police are asking downtown businesses to locate surveillance footage that may have captured any of the defacement incidents. Charges are expected to range from littering to ethnic intimidation depending on the motive.
