There are two Friday the Thirteenths on the calendar this year, and the first of them is today.
But never fear, triskaidekaphobiacs, IUP is here…that would be IUP psychology professor Dr. David LaPorte, who says superstitions are a basic human characteristic.
In a short video IUP posted to its YouTube channel, Dr. LaPorte says superstitions may even be valid…in a way. But if you’re taking your laundry to Heinz Field this Sunday, wearing it or waving it, don’t have high expectations.
Actually, triskaidekaphobia is a fear of the number thirteen. the fear of Friday the thirteenth is friggatriskaidekaphobia. Today’s comes with a harvest moon, too, the first time that’s happened since 2000. The next Friday the thirteenth is in December.
