Northern Cambria defeated West Shamokin, 25-23, 25-12, 25-18, to repeat as Heritage Conference girls’ volleyball champion on Wednesday night at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
The Colts, the No. 2 team in the conference’s North Division, knocked off Homer-Center, the conference’s South Division winner, 25-11, 25-14, earlier in the evening to advance to the championship round.
In the other opening round matchup, West Shamokin, the North champion, defeated South runner-up Ligonier Valley, 25-11, 25-19.
Northern Cambria (20-1-2, 12-1 conference) is the No. 1 seed in the upcoming District 6 Class 1A playoffs. West Shamokin captured the fourth seed in District 6 Class 2A. Both teams received a first-round bye for the playoffs, which begin next week.
