A winter storm is approaching Indiana County, but as usual, it’s hard to determine how much snow will fall and in what sections of the county.
The latest weather maps show Indiana County getting around an inch overall, after previous maps showed some southeastern portions of the county getting as much as three to six inches in the next 24 hours.
Accuweather indicates higher snow amounts of three to six inches, with the snow arriving in the late night tonight, and another one to two inches tomorrow, bringing the storm total to four to eight inches.
Other weather services call for a total of just about an inch of accumulation.
Accuweather says the snow is actually the merger of two storms that are currently in the Midwest. Six to twelve inches of snow are forecast for Detroit, but a northward shift will take the bulk of the snow into Quebec, where they could get as much as two feet.
Accuweather says, “Precipitation will begin as rain across central and eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania and western New York, and it will stay wet for a while until the two storms join forces and pull in enough cold air for rain to transition to snow. The changeover to wintry weather will occur late Wednesday to Wednesday night.”
The most recent map shows the storm track to miss the majority of Indiana County. Cross your fingers.
