During Tuesday night’s Indiana Borough Council meeting, council opened bids and gave conditional approval for street paving project work.
Derry Construction Company came in with the low bid of $151,234.00, but acceptance of the bid is contingent on review of all the bids. The projects will take place on Washington Street from the railroad tracks to Eisenhower School; School Street from 11th to 13th Streets; Paper Mill from School Street to Washington Street; Church Street from 9th to 13th street skipping the 1000 block where work was done previously, and South 12th Street from Philadelphia to School Streets.
Also last night, Indiana Borough Council was told that the borough received an allocation of $75,000 for CDBG funds related to Coronavirus. The borough now has to come up with a plan for the use of the funds. Borough Manager C. Michael Foote said that they will try to gather as much feedback as they can for the plan, which will be based on some stakeholder hearings, two virtual public hearings, and reaching out to the social service agencies and the business community.
The plan needs to be submitted by July 31st.
