Today is Independence Day and while some other communities have cancelled their fireworks displays, the Star Spangled Celebration Fireworks show will continue as scheduled.
The other activities normally associated with the Star Spangled Celebration have been cancelled, but Mack Park will remain open today for people to picnic in and Mack Park Pool will be open today from Noon to 6 PM. The park will be closed and cleared out at 7:00 tonight. No one will be allowed in the park after that to watch the fireworks show, as the organizers are encouraging people to watch the fireworks taking social distancing guidelines into effect. If people are headed out to some of the surrounding parking lots to watch, people are reminded to have masks on, practice social distancing, and do not set up any tents or tailgate at these locations.
To add to the celebration, Your Hometown Radio Stations will provide a program of patriotic music on our affiliate Cat Country 106.3 FM. Renda Broadcasting Program Director Andy Hart talked about providing the soundtrack for the fireworks.
That program of Fireworks music will start as soon as the fireworks start at 9:45 tonight on Cat Country 106.3 FM.
