The new owner of the Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort in Blairsville is a company out of Texas.
Renda Broadcasting has learned that the winning bidder in the auction for Chestnut Ridge on July 25th was RRH Developments of Humble, TX, who purchased the property for $2.4 million. The firm’s president is Ron Holley, who represents buyers and sellers in Houston and other cities, including Las Vegas, Roanoke and Billings.
RRH Developments has been in business for 40 years and own several golf courses, some of which still operate as golf courses, and some that have been made into housing developments. According to Dwayne Day, attorney for RRH Developments, the developer plans to keep the resort in operation, work on expansion projects to the golf course that prior owners could not finish, and do some development of some of the other areas of the property.
The resort, which features two 18-hole golf courses and a 48,000-square foot clubhouse/conference center/banquet facility was owned by Tom Usher, who purchased the course in 2008. Usher said in a news release that he wanted to simplify his investments and hand the course over to someone who will take a more “hands-on” approach to management. Usher plans to encourage the new owners to keep the existing staff, which he says is critical to preserving the Chestnut Ridge “brand”.
