Indiana Borough Council will meet tonight and the proposed ordinance concerning wearing face masks will be on the agenda.
The ordinance will allow the borough code department to enforce the mask orders that were signed by Department of Health Secretary Dr. Rachael Levine, with fines in place for those who do not comply. Borough Council Vice President Gerald Smith said in an interview yesterday that this ordinance is one part of the borough’s effort to keep everyone safe and healthy.
While the proposed ordinance does contain a provision that the borough manager would be allowed to hire part-time personnel to help enforce the ordinance, Borough Council President Peter Broad says he does not foresee that happening.
The meeting will be held virtually at 7:00 PM and directions on how to join the meeting can be found at indianaboro.com.
Prior to the start of the meeting, those who are against the ordinance will hold a protest rally at the borough offices. That starts at 5:30.
