The start of the week brings Covid-19 news items from three Indiana County school districts, but no changes to the affected schools’ schedules.
At Indiana Area, the district said on Friday that the Department of Health has ordered the quarantine of several students from Ben Franklin Elementary. A student who attends a private school tested negative but a student who goes to Ben Franklin was positive, prompting a quarantine of several students who had been in contact with the positive student.
Also on Friday, a student at the Indiana Junior High tested positive. That student was in school briefly but was immediately isolated and sent home, and two other students were sent home as a precaution.
One other note from Indiana Area…effective today, a certain style of mask is no longer permitted. The mask features a plastic shield that ascends from the chin up over the nose.
Marion Center has been notified of a student who tested positive, but that student attends the district’s virtual academy and does not access the school campus.
Purchase Line Elementary School will be closed to students this week after a second staff member tested positive. That person had contact with other staffers and so there are a number of quarantines in effect, and the students will have remote instruction this week. As of now, the school is scheduled to reopen for in-person instruction next Monday, November 2nd.
