Indiana County Commissioners and Common Pleas Court Judges will be implementing some different strategies for business at the courthouse in the wake of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
Both entities are monitoring the increased positivity percentage in Indiana County, which went up from 9.6 percent for the week of October 23rd to the 29th to 14 percent the week of October 30th to November 5th, according to the PA Department of Health. In an effort to stem transmission:
- Public access to the courthouse, domestic relations section, children and youth services, and other county agencies will be restricted starting today until at least November 23rd. Any citizen who needs to conduct business at the Indiana County Courthouse should call 724-465-3800 before visiting and see if that business can be done over the phone.
- Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas will remain operational with hearings via telephone and video conferencing. In-person hearings will be limited. Anyone with a question on a scheduled hearing should contact the court administrator’s office at 724-465-3955.
- Public access to the Magisterial District Courts will be restricted and hearings are being rescheduled. Call the specific court office with any questions related to proceedings at those courts.
- The County Commissioners meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 18th, will be held in a virtual format, like the others before it, and the link to the Zoom Video Chat will be available on the Courthouse website at indianacountypa.gov
