Indiana Borough Police have charged two people with breaking into a business in Indiana Borough on Christmas Eve
Police say that on December 24th, they had two burglar alarm activations at the Top Shelf tobacco shop in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue. At 5:52 AM, police did not find anyone inside or around the business, but they did find an exterior window open. A second alarm went off an hour later. The owner of the business gave police access to interior video surveillance and found two men, later identified as 21-year-old Bailey Charles Edwards of Indiana and 20-year-old Jacob Alan Lawson of Blairsville, inside the store actively committing the burglary. The suspects fled the scene before police got there, but they were found nearby and taken into custody. IUP Police assisted with the investigation.
Both face charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft and criminal mischief, and Lawson was also charged with possessing instruments of a crime. The two were arraigned in front of District Judge Robert Bell.
