On Tuesday night, the Indiana Borough Council announced that they are still seeking interested people to take over for George Hood, who resigned as Mayor of Indiana Borough earlier this month.
While the borough has received three letters of interest, acting mayor and borough council president Peter Broad said that he felt that sufficient word did not get out that they were looking for interested parties.
Broad said he would like to see a new mayor named at the next council meeting, which is scheduled for February 2nd. Letters from those interested must be submitted to the borough by then.
In a related story, borough council unanimously approved re-naming the Indiana Borough Building in honor of former Mayor George Hood. A ceremony to make it official will be held at a later date.
In other business, the borough council approved soliciting requests for proposals from parties interested in becoming the borough’s solicitor. Neva Stotler will continue to serve as the borough solicitor until a replacement is hired.
