State Representative Jeff Pyle says he will not resign for sharing a Facebook post that mocked departing Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine for being transgender.
Pyle, whose 60th District includes Armstrong County and a portion of Indiana County, said he has received “tens of thousands of heated emails” and he apologizes. He later apologized again, writing “to all affected,” although not mentioning Levine by name. He wrote, “From this situation I have learned to not poke fun at people different than me and to hold my tongue. Be a bigger man.” He also said that he will soon be leaving Facebook.
Pyle has served in the House of Representatives since his election in 2004.
