State police have issued the report on a school bus crash on Tuesday morning on Chestnut Ridge Road in Burrell Township.
Police say the bus carrying five Blairsville Elementary students was driven by 55-year-old Tina Bollinger of Blairsville, who lost control on the icy road as she rounded a left-hand curve, striking a small embankment and a tree alongside the road before coming to rest across both lanes of traffic.
Bollinger and an 8-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene by Citizens Ambulance EMTs. The four other passengers ranged in age from 6 to 9 and none were injured.
An Akron, Ohio man escaped injury early Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash on Old Indiana Road in Burrell Township.
State police say it happened shortly after 1 AM when a car driven by 21-year-old Jacob Hankinson slid out of control and hit a mailbox, a trash can, and eventually, a tree. Hankinson fled the scene but was later found and was charged with careless driving.
